2012 Record Store Day / News / January 11, 2012

Florence + The Machine, The Cure, DJ Shadow, Ben Howard, CSS, Noah and The Whale and Bombay Bicycle Club are all participating in “Secret 7,'” a contest designed to give artists a chance to have their work on vinyl sleeves throughout the world.

According to Florence + The Machine’s Facebook page, “The project will culminate in 700 unique vinyl sleeves displayed in Idea Generation Gallery in London in the week leading up to Record Store Day 2012. On that day, each of the vinyls at the gallery will be available to purchase with all of the profits going to Teenage Cancer Trust.”

The contest consists of artists creating their own original artwork for the single that each of the listed bands plan to release on Record Store Day.

Submissions are due in a matter of days and the single Florence + The Machine have chosen for the project is “Only If For A Night,” the opener on her latest album, “Ceremonials.” You can read more about the very cool project and submit your artistic interpretation to any of the artists, here.
