A six-disc vinyl box set for Trilogy, the breakthrough triple album by R&B wunderkind The Weeknd, is now available for pre-order through the artist’s webstore. Though details are scarce, it appears the album is being pressed on 180-gram standard black vinyl and will include full-color jackets and inserts. The initial run is limited to just 500 hand-numbered and autographed copies worldwide. It’ll set you back $199.
Trilogy is a collection of The Weeknd’s three prior mixtapes, House of Balloons (2011), Thursday (2011), and Echoes of Silence (2012). It was originally released in November 2012 on CD and digital format.
The Trilogy box set will be released on March 26th.
Update 3/31/13: It appears that the signatures on the box-set are printed, not individually signed. If true, that’s quite the shame, since when spending $200 on three double records, you should at least get the effort of having a legitimate signature. Has anyone picked up the set?
Update 4/3/13: Customers have received the following email regarding the signatures:
To all the fans,
We sincerely apologize for the issues with the Trilogy Vinyl Box Set. Unfortunately, there was some miscommunication internally and you were ultimately led to believe the packages would be hand signed. To make up for that, everyone who ordered the set will receive a complementary lithograph insert, which will be hand signed, and a special item from the new project later on.
Sorry once again and we hope you will continue to show your support in the years to come.
Customers who picked this up….are the extra items enough to make up for prior issues? Personally, I think he’s going above and beyond to restore some faith.
