Record Store Day 2014: The List (So Far)

Record Store Day 2014 / February 19, 2014

Throughout the next couple months leading up to Record Store Day 2014 (April 19th), we here at Modern Vinyl will be constantly updating this list, to keep you on top of everything being released on the big day. This list compiles our reporting, the list over at Wax Poetic and Exclaim!. Not all may be for the U.S., though, as different countries get different exclusives. And remember, some of these are rumors, so they cannot be confirmed until the official announcements. You can see the list of participating stores (where you’ll be able to get these releases) here.

Boo, not one damn thing I would buy on that list

on February 19, 2014

Agreed. Other than that punk version of Surfer Blood’s “Pythons” really nothing else here. I was hoping for one or two gems… then again, there’s still some time and I’m sure there’s plenty more than hasn’t been announced yet. Still praying (based on a rumor) that Make Your Own History by Stray From The Path is released…

on February 19, 2014

You know your getting old when I have never heard of 3/4 of those bands …..

    on February 19, 2014

No true…seems every band w/ two nickels to scratch together these days puts out a vinyl. Awful lot of crap out there no matter what razzle-dazzle color swirl wax it’s on. Line up sheeple!

      on February 19, 2014

I hear ya! While there’s tons of releases out there that are probably horrible, it is still nice to see bands embracing physical media – my band was gigging heavily during the time when iPods were the rage (probably a decade ago) and the big thing was getting your stuff up on iTunes. I know it’s still a huge thing but I see things like Amazon having a “fill up your cloud” sale and what’s the point of that? Filling up your harddrive with stuff you’ll probably forget about. I’d rather own a reasonably priced “razzle dazzle” color swirl vinyl : )

From Here We Go To Sublime is one hell of an album, and extremely exciting to see coming for RSD14!

on February 19, 2014

The list of LP’s being released for RSD is disappointing so far. Whilst some might be taken in by the lure of coloured vinyl, it seems it’s just an excuse for yet another round of re-releases.

on February 19, 2014

Are you all kidding? Plenty of the releases listed are not new bands at all! Hawkwind? Neil Young? The Byrds? Alice Cooper? Just to name a few. A couple great soundtrack releases as well. Oh well, I’ll let you all pass on these 🙂

on February 19, 2014

Umm really??!! Where’s the beef? This is shite!
I hope better releases are coming before the day

Not RSD news but Soundgarden will be reissuing the original 2LP 16-track vinyl of Superunknown this year on 200g vinyl when they do their deluxe 2CD and 4CD+1Blu-ray editions, the latter including an all new 5.1 mix of the album.

Wax Poetic is saying August Burns Red’s “Thrill Seeker” is an LP release (1000 copies on either Green vinyl or Gold vinyl (packaged randomly).

That alone is worth waiting in line…

I feel a bit meh about this list too.

I’m an 80’s fan, I’d love to see a re-release from about 1983, and yes, on that magnificent swirly vinyl stuff.

I don’t generally buy black records, even if they’re good ones, ok… sometimes, but don’t tell anyone.

on March 5, 2014

Ok so you post about 2 LP’s from
311. And yet when I go thr ought the list (unless I am blind) I do not see them listed. So what’s up

    on March 7, 2014

Sorry there was a delay on adding them to the official list. I usually do the individual posts first, then add them to the list when I have time. Just a one man operation here!

on March 5, 2014

I hear man man is getting their first album pressed. is this true?

I love how Bull Moose is now trying to slander and go after sites like yours and mine with their recent Twitter comments and new list. They can go fuck themselves. God forbid if “rumored” stuff turns out to be accurate because they got their panties all waded up when the world “official” or “accurate” was used. RSD is global. If I am a David Bowie fan, and there is going to be a UK Picture Disc release and a different release for the US, would I not try to coordinate a trade and work with other Bowie fans? According to the snobs at RSD, people wouldn’t be smart enough to do this, they’d be pissed off at Record Stores for not having both releases. Come on. Just getting sick of their BS tactics, when all we’ve tried to to do is drum up excitement for the day.

[…] Most of the stories in the past seven days concerned reissues and new releases for this year’s Record Store Day, which will take place on April 19.
