Surprise: Jack White/Third Man doing something crazy for RSD

Record Store Day 2014 / April 3, 2014

It was kind of a surprise when the Record Store Day list came out and only included one item from Third Man Records on it. The reissue of Whirlwind Heat’s Do Rabbits Wonder? is certainly worthy of the RSD title, but usually, the label busts out some pretty wild promotional items for the event. Well, we spoke too soon, as Jack White and Third Man will attempt to set a world record on the day, as they record, press and sell a 7″ release in record time.

First, White will record a live rendition of the title track of his upcoming album, Lazaretto, straight to acetate. Then, the masters will be taken to United Record Pressing, where they’ll immediately begin pressing the 45s. The records will then be rushed back to Third Man to sell to awaiting fans. All in hours. Every single fan in line will get a record, even if it takes URP all day to complete the items.

Record Store Day will be held on April 19th. Get in line Nashville folks.
