Exclusive Spin: Our Lady — II

Exclusive Spin / News / August 7, 2014

Our Lady frontman Tim Williams, even while sitting amidst a hurricane of distortion, manages to deliver the most powerful of messages to future fans in standout track, “Coping.” Singing, “I lie like awaiting prey/We will finally feed from each other,” the lines bruise like an awakened giant, calling out for a connection, or perhaps something more dangerous. My mind often returned to those lines throughout the entirety of II, the recent full length album from Our Lady, coming to vinyl for the first time courtesy of Mind Over Matter Records.

An intense, often times dirty brand of emo-rock, Our Lady carries the characteristics of that buzzworthy genre, but manages to mix in gothic flourish, while connecting several of its darkest moments with often times haunting spoken word. A band that seems primed for their moment, or at least the beginning of such a time, will hopefully do as they’ve told us: Feed off what’s surely to be a growing fan base. You can stream the entirety of II, below.

Mind Over Matter pressed the album on both mint green vinyl (limited to 100) and on opaque pink vinyl (limited to 170). The vinyl version also includes an exclusive song, which isn’t streaming above and the album has been remastered. The records will ship out on or around August 19th. Pre-order it here.
