Stream: Anomie — So Long

News / January 9, 2015

Rachel Browne, vocalist for Field Mouse and centerpiece for our current focus, her side project Anomie, just has a voice I can connect with. Never selfish, it simply rides along the alt-pop line she brings over from Field Mouse, sweet inflections rising at just the right moments. Never flashy, the vocals are more an accent to the fuzzy guitars in this case. That’s not to say she doesn’t have much to communicate in “So Long,” the track we’re streaming today. In one memorable section, Browne sings, “Sleepy afternoon/Dark is coming soon,” a line terrifying to a workaholic like me. Maybe she’s the same way, with another line telling of “time” and how it “will kill us both.”

The self-titled EP will be released on February 10th through Father/Daughter Records.
