Ian Black (aka SLUG) has shot an arrow straight into my experimental-rock heart with his new album RIPE. Backed by the incredibly talented Peter and David Brewis of Field Music, SLUG weaves in and out of genre with reckless abandon, all the while creating a musical landscape that’s playful yet focused. If that wasn’t enough, Ian also name drops some of my favorite horror composers — rock group Goblin, composer Fabio Frizzi — as inpsiration during his track by track run down on NME. Head over to the site to hear the full album, as well as read the commentary from Black.
