Best of 2015: Top Label

News / Special Features / December 24, 2015

Previous Winners:
2013: Topshelf Records
2014: Tiny Engines

With soundtracks becoming an increasingly discussed aspect of the vinyl community, it felt right elevating a 2014 honorable mention for “Top Label” into the top spot this year. Waxwork Records not only stands out in the soundtrack game, they often lead it, combining a careful curation with high quality product. MV sees Nosferatu, The Vampyre as their 2015 high point, but counts Starry Eyes and C.H.U.D. as additional successes. You’ll often find the phrase, “original master tapes” in the label’s item descriptions, as they’ve put a heavy emphasis on making sure these scores are presented in the best possible light. And just check out the Goosebumps artwork to see they’re no slouch in this department either. It’s that willingness to go the extra mile that earns them this prize. And we usually don’t factor in vinyl coming next year, but when the future lineup includes Evil Dead 2, The Babadook and recently announced Krampus and Crimson Peak pressings, it’s hard to ignore.
