Tracklisted: Those Sweet Danes

News / Special Features / Tracklisted / June 29, 2016

Much like the classic mixtape, Tracklisted presents a collection of songs under a selected theme, which you can check out below. Click on the provided Spotify playlist and listen to this week’s arrangement while you read a few words about the selections.

I’ve had this “Tracklisted” article gestating for about two years now, when in 2014 the post-punk scene in Denmark reached its zenith with the release of Iceage’s Plowing Into The Fields of Love. Among the plethora of Danish post-punk offerings that year, Iceage’s third outing topped off a remarkable few years of the revived movement out of the European nation, one that’s thrived on underground musical workings of existential dread and personal angst. Bands like Communions, LOWER, and Shiny Darkly are continuing the trend well into the decade, and since I’m in the mood for it, I present to you the best of what Danish post-punk bands have had to offer over the last few years.
