We’re late to the VMA party, but if you missed Beyonce’s 15-minute “Lemonade” performance, you missed out.
DISCUSSION: The Song Machine by John Seabrook
The both of us give this book a rating of 4/5. It’s a great read, especially if you’re interested in the music business side of things. We both enjoyed the book, and we would recommend it to others. Some downsides? A lot of legal chatter about Kesha and Lou Pearlman, a lack of focus on country music, as well as the K-Pop/J-Pop chapters.
Overall, this book is definitely worth picking up, especially if you’re into pop music. It has a unique flow to it, where things end up building in each chapter from the Swedish foundation. Be prepared for a lot of talk about the musical accomplishments that the Swedes have graced the music world with!
Next Book Pick: In The Aeroplane Over The Sea by Kim Cooper (from the 33 1/3 series).
