Exclusive Spin: Samurai Tiger — Funemployed, Pt. 2

Exclusive Spin / News / April 28, 2017

Conrad Gagnon is busy. We premiered their split with Normal State earlier this year, and ahead of their Samurai Tiger project’s third EP, Part 2, we’ve streaming “Funemployed, Pt. 2” below. Instead of locking in a groove, comfortably nestled between power pop and indie, Samurai Tiger’s shrieking this time — the guitars whine and ring with urgency, fitting for a song detailing the emotional tumult of an identity crisis. The track’s energy centers around Gagnon’s growing confidence as an artist, boasting an expanded vocal range and upfront self-awareness that flourishes in a louder, more colorful space.

Part 2 will be released May 12 via Deep Sea Records and Shinonome Labs digitally, on cassette, and on 12” lathe-cut records. The release is limited to 15 lathe cuts, 30 pink tapes (Deep Sea Records exclusive), and 30 clear tapes (Shinonome Labs exclusive). Orders will ship by the release date.
