‘True Romance’ soundtrack up for pre-order

News / Preorders / May 22, 2017

The soundtrack to 1993’s action-romance film, True Romance, is up for vinyl pre-order from Wargod Collective. This marks the first official stateside release of the soundtrack to the Tony Scott-directed, Quentin Tarantino-penned film, which starred Christian Slater, Patricia Arquette, Christopher Walken, Dennis Hopper, Michael Rappaport, Val Kilmer, Gary Oldman, and an array of amazing other actors. There was a Korean release on vinyl contemporary with the film’s release, and it goes for absurd second-hand prices.

This release doesn’t contain any new tracks, but does feature elements of Hans Zimmer’s score, along with Soundgarden, Robert Palmer, and Chris Isaak. It’s available in a variety of forms, all housed in a gatefold jacket with artwork by Rafal Wechterowicz. There’s the standard aqua and pink splatter vinyl, inspired by Arquette’s wardrobe as Alabama, limited to 686 copies, available here. There’s also a deluxe box set, limited to 297 copies. This comes on “king gold” vinyl and features all these absolutely crazy extras:

• Dick Ritchie signed 8×10 (autographed by Michael Rapaport)
• 5 piece set of 1″ studio-approved True Romance soft enamel pins
• Slipmat with original True Romance art
• Clarence inspired “king” sunglasses
• Alabama inspired malibu sunglasses
• Mock Coming Home in a Bodybag VHS case
• Clarence’s Michigan drivers license recovered from Drexl’s lair (don’t worry, we cleaned off the blood splatter)
• Beverly Ambassador Hotel napkin with “Youre So Cool” stamp
• “Greetings from Cancun” postcard with genuine 1992 Elvis postage stamp on reverse side
• Elliot Blitzer mugshot
• All items neatly housed inside a 12.75 x 12.75 collector’s box with matte black finish, hand numbered in gold ink out of 297, and featuring the iconic True Romance angel tattoo / logo in gold foil stamping.

We’ve not seen a soundtrack that’s just so cool since iam8bit’s Nice Guys release last year. The box set is available here, or you can grab it with the ‘Alabama’ variant and a ‘blood splatter” variant here (Amazon). Check out box set pictures below.

Nick Spacek was once a punk, but realized you can’t be hardcore and use the word “adorable” as often as he does. Nick is a self-described “rock star journalist,” which is strange, considering he’s married with four cats and usually goes to bed by 9. This is just further proof that you can’t trust anyone online.
