New Pressing: Kisaragi/Sakamoto — Neo-plant

News / Preorders / July 17, 2017

The 1986 single from Koharu Kisaragi and Ryuichi Sakamoto, “Neo-plant,” is getting reissued through Lag Records. This was the only single taken from Kisaragi’s Tokai No Seikatsu album, and was co-written by the Oscar-winning Sakamoto.

A-side Neo-Plant is a sample heavy, avant-garde, synth pop piece driven by early hip hop and dancehall rhythms. The B-side is a completely different affair, Traumerei a minimalist piece takes more from Japanese folk with Koharu’s voice swooning over bassoon melodies, finally Tail is a new age gone in a flash instrumental.

The music has been cut using the original master tapes. The insert includes both English and Japanese lyrics. It’s on standard black vinyl.

The single is being released on October 30th.
