Exclusive Spin: Logan Gaval — Tears

Exclusive Spin / News / February 7, 2018

If Logan Gaval bares his teeth in Greet Death, his solo work might be where he shows his hands. You can almost hear the skin on his fingers split on “Tears,” streaming below. In contrast to his main gig’s sonic propulsion, what’s offered here is mournful and minimal. It’s also a testament to writing and recording a record as fast as possible. After all, “Tears” starts with a stumble and features the train horn that interrupted this misty-eyed excursion into country music. Number One was recorded on a Tascam four-track in a Detroit house that’s since been destroyed, a troubling but key detail that shows Gaval isn’t here to retool his foundation, but assemble something new from irreverent, warped debris.

Number One will be released on cassette via Flesh and Bone Records on Feb. 23. Greet Death will be on tour with Mover Shaker to and from SXSW this spring. You can find those dates below.
