Listen: SXSW panel on the vinyl industry

News / May 23, 2016

At SXSW this year, Cameron Schaefer (Vinyl Me, Please) hosted a panel titled Where Will The Vinyl Industry Be In 2018. He was joined by Ben Blackwell (Third Man Records), Billy Fields (Warner Music Group) and Eric Astor (Furnace Record Pressing). You can listen to the entire discussion below, made public by the festival.

With Amazon reporting a turntable as their best-selling home audio product for the 2015 holiday season, vinyl has gone from a surprising blip on the cultural radar to an increasingly significant part of the current musical landscape. As the industry scrambles to adapt and resurrect the vinyl ecosystem, big questions around production capacity, access for major vs. indie, & long-term sustainability loom large.
