MAG-LEV kickstarting ‘first levitating turntable’

News / Preorders / October 15, 2016

Update 11/21/16: The funding campaign ended with over $550,000 in funding. You can now pre-order the table, which has an August 2017 shipping date. It comes out to a little over $1,000, so a rise from that early bird price.

Ok….this is pretty wild. Over at Kickstarter, there’s something being funded called the “world’s first levitating turntable.” It’s magnetic levitation, with sensor regulating software, which you can see at work below.

A pledge of $780 will get you the early bird, black edition of the device, while $840 gets you “imitation wood” style. I’m usually pretty skeptical of these high concept turntables, certainly pausing at say, the vertical models, but I’m impressed by the visuals here.

They’re looking to release this in September of 2017. They’ve currently hit nearly $200,000 of their $300,000 goal. Any thoughts?
