Flaming Lips releasing beer-filled 7″ for RSD

News / Record Store Day 2018 / March 15, 2018

The Flaming Lips and Dogfish Head are teaming up for a 7″ record on Record Store Day. The release includes 100 copies of translucent records that are filled with “the actual Dragons & YumYums beer” (a lip smackingly tart pale ale).

The whole pressing will be 2,000 copies with the other 1,900 being standard wax. The 7″ includes “The Story of Yum Yum and Dragons” and “Pouring Beer In Your Ear.”

The energy of the union inspired Wayne to use ingredients from the beer as characters in the two songs on the record, ‘The Story of Yum Yum and Dragon’ and ‘Pouring Beer in Your Ear.’ Looking to dragonfruit and yumberry as key elements, he transformed them into storyful lyrics in the song like, “Yum Yum and Dragon went out for a drive, but Yum Yum doesn’t have any eyes….Yum Yum and Dragon, they’re happy they’re friends…”

Record Store Day is being held on April 21. You can find all the events it will be available at over at Dogfish.
